The National Housing Conference (NHC) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), an NHC Housing Leadership Support Program member, hosted four Bring Workers Home regional policy forums addressing workforce housing in 2010. These forums took place in Atlanta, GA; Minneapolis, MN; Austin, TX; and Honolulu, HI in order to highlight workforce housing solutions and opportunities nationwide.
Each Bring Workers Home regional forum explored a core set of issues including:
• How to create and sustain a workforce housing program in your community;
• The importance of advancing workforce housing through local and regional partnerships;
• Workforce housing issues from the perspective of employers; and
• Practitioners and advocates managing successful workforce housing strategies.
The Bring Workers Home forums were designed to attract a wide range of attendees, including employers and HR professionals, REALTORS®, city planners, housing and community development leaders, local elected and appointed officials, state HFA representatives, and others.Participation from all of those groups was high, and many attendees left with plans to pursue workforce housing initiatives in their hometowns.
Agendas, presentations and other resources from each of the forums can be found below.
